THE FILE“Made with an online pay stub generator”
What this flag on a PDF file means, why it matters, and what to check.
What it means
The PDF's own metadata names an online pay stub generator as the program that made it.
Why it matters
Employers' payroll systems don't use these sites. They exist so that anyone can type in an employer, a salary and taxes and get a stub that looks official.
Ordinary explanations
- A very small employer without payroll software sometimes uses a generator to give staff a stub. Then the employer can confirm the pay directly.
What to check
Ask the employer to confirm employment and pay directly. Real payroll systems don't export through online stub generators.
A flag is a reason to verify with the source, not proof. Apply the same steps to every applicant.
