StubSure analyzes documents for internal inconsistencies. It is not a consumer reporting agency, and its reports are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Reports describe documents, not people, and must not be the sole basis for a housing decision. Apply the same screening criteria to every applicant in line with the Fair Housing Act.

CROSS-CHECK

“The Social Security payment isn't on the statement”

What this flag on a set of documents means, why it matters, and what to check.

What it means

No deposit naming Social Security for the monthly payment on the benefit letter appears on the bank statement.

Why it matters

It's a note, not an inconsistency: benefits can be paid into another account.

Ordinary explanations

  • The benefit goes to a different account or a Direct Express card.
  • The statement covers days before the month's payment date.

What to check

Ask which account the benefit is paid into, and for a statement of that account downloaded directly from the bank.

A flag is a reason to verify with the source, not proof. Apply the same steps to every applicant.
