StubSure analyzes documents for internal inconsistencies. It is not a consumer reporting agency, and its reports are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Reports describe documents, not people, and must not be the sole basis for a housing decision. Apply the same screening criteria to every applicant in line with the Fair Housing Act.

CROSS-CHECK

“Pay deposits don't follow the pay schedule”

What this flag on a set of documents means, why it matters, and what to check.

What it means

Deposits from the employer on the bank statement come at intervals that don't match the pay frequency on the stub, for example weekly deposits with a biweekly stub.

Why it matters

If the stub's schedule is real, the paychecks land in the bank on that schedule.

Ordinary explanations

  • An off-cycle bonus or correction paid between regular paydays.
  • A job change between the stub and the statement.

What to check

Ask the employer how often the applicant is paid, and compare with the deposits on a bank-direct statement. Use the phone number on the employer's official website, not the one printed on the stub.

A flag is a reason to verify with the source, not proof. Apply the same steps to every applicant.
