Report flags / pay stub
NUMBERS“Paid more than a month after the pay period ended”
What this flag on a pay stub means, why it matters, and what to check.
What it means
The pay date is more than 31 days after the last day of the pay period.
Why it matters
Payroll pays in arrears, but usually within a week or two of the period's end. A long gap often means the dates were edited.
Ordinary explanations
- A final paycheck or a corrected check issued late.
- A one-off bonus run reprinted on an old period.
What to check
Ask the employer to confirm the pay schedule and the date of this paycheck. Use the phone number on the employer's official website, not the one printed on the stub.
A flag is a reason to verify with the source, not proof. Apply the same steps to every applicant.
